Youth Red Cross(YRC)

The Youth Red Cross in Sona College of Arts and Science is a distinctive avenue available to the students for Personality Development and Character enhancement. The YRC unit in the college is registered with the Indian Red Cross Society, Tamil Nadu branch in 2018. The main objective of the Youth Red Cross is to divulge a spirit of service and a sagacity of duty with dedication and consecration in the minds of youth to forge them as best citizens with social consciousness and commitment to become dynamic nation builders. This students’ movement functions with the aspiration of serving people without any discrimination of caste, religion and language.
Visit to old age homes, training programme on first aid, pain and palliative care, self-defense and food preparation and preservation are conducted annually. Seminars on diverse topics like cyber-crimes, effective parenthood are also organized.

Vital activities under youth program:

  • Trainings to students on Red Cross to undertake the agreed tasks as well as on Water and Sanitation, Hygiene Preferment and First aid.
  • Initiating students to encompass in prominence activities such as Poster making, wall paintings and printing of behavioral change.
  • Celebration of special days with focus on creating awareness and consequence on International Youth Day, International First Aid Day, World Red Cross Day, World Water Day, World Health day and so forth.
  • Exposing social call to villages to observe community enlargement approaches and providing first aid kits as per need.
